The Cutlers' Hall

The Company has had three Halls on the same site.
In 1638, shortly after it came into being, the Company bought land for their
Hall on Church Street, Sheffield, opposite the parish church, which is now the
Cathedral. The second Hall was built in 1725. The present Hall, a Grade 2* Listed Building, was built in 1832 and was extended in 1867 and 1888. Over the years, it has served as a focus for the Company's activities and as a venue for social events - both for the Cutlers' Company and for Hallamshire. Guided tours of the Hall can be made by prior arrangement with the Company. Tours are only conducted between 10am and 3pm, Monday to Friday, subject to commitments. The Hall can also be hired for social events and civic weddings. All enquiries for such bookings must be made with Sodexho Prestige, the resident caterers, not the Company |
