Pam Liversidge is a
Chartered Mechanical Engineer. During a
career of almost forty years in heavy industry, she has worked as a Chartered
Engineer in the manufacturing industry, including four years creating her own
business to manufacture specialist metal powders by atomisation, in addition to
five years as a senior executive in the electricity industry during its
privatisation. She now has interests in engineering and medical device
companies as well as holding several non-executive directorships.
She is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and was its first woman President from May 1997 to May 1998, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineers, of the City & Guilds Institute and of the Royal Society of Arts; Chairman of Governors of Sheffield High School (a GDST school); a Member of the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire where she will be elected Master on 4 October 2011 (the first woman to hold this office) and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Engineers. She is a Guardian of the Sheffield Assay Office. She was a Vice-President of RedR, 1996-1999
She is a non-executive Director of the Rainbow Seed Fund, a non-executive Director of the Chesterfield Royal Foundation Trust Hospital and was local area Chairman of Yorkshire Bank’s Financial Solutions Centre in Sheffield 2006-2009. She is a Director of Quest Investments Ltd which has interests in engineering and medical device companies and commercial property. She is a Director of Whirlow Grange Conference Centre and a member of the Trustee Board of the City and Guilds of London Institute. Pam has received Honorary Doctorates from six UK universities.
In the 1999 New Year’s Honours List, Pam was awarded the OBE for her services to the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and was made a Deputy Lieutenant of South Yorkshire in October 1999. She held office as High Sheriff of South Yorkshire from April 2004 – April 2005.
She is a strong advocate of vocational education and enjoys golf and gardening. She lives in the Peak District of Derbyshire with Doug, her husband (a Past Master Cutler) as well as spending several weeks each year at their home on the Gulf Coast of Florida. She has 3 step children and 5 granddaughters.
