The Company of Cutlers administers three separate charities.
These are:
The Cutlers' Hall Preservation Trust Limited (No. 1655467)
A company incorporated in July 1982, limited by guarantee and not having a share capital.
The principal object of the trust is to preserve for the benefit of the townspeople of Sheffield in the County of York and of the nation at large, whatever of the English historical, architectural and constructional heritage may exist in and around the Cutlers’ Hall in the form of buildings of particular beauty or historical, architectural or constructional interest.
The Council of Management of the Preservation trust is drawn from the Members of the Cutlers' Company.
The Cutlers' Company Charitable Trust ( No. 224063)
After appropriate discussion with the Charity Commission on 14 April 2008, a new scheme known as The Cutlers' Company Charitable Trust came into being, which governs within a single charity, the charities formally known as Jane Fisher’s Gift, The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire Welfare Trust and The Stuart Goodwin Charity.
The object of the charity is the relief of persons resident in South Yorkshire who are in need, hardship or distress. The Trustees are drawn from the Members of the Cutlers' Company.
The Sir John Osborn Charitable Trust (No. 1019892)
The Trust was established in March 1993 by Sir John Osborn and consists of two equal funds known as the Sir John Osborn Fund and the Sheffield Fund. Sir John’s fund may be applied for recognized charitable objectives as selected by Sir John, subject to the agreement of the Trustees.
The Sheffield fund is for the benefit of people of Sheffield, with a preference for the relief of sickness and the protection of health. Up to one quarter of the annual income may be expended on the charitable objects of The Cutlers’ Hall Preservation Trust Limited. The Trustees are drawn from members of the Cutlers' Company.
