Tuesday 26th November, Better Learners Better Workers (BLBW) Ambassadors from Wath Academy had the opportunity to visit one of the Esh Group’s projects at Riverside in Rotherham. The visit offered students an engaging introduction to the construction industry and the range of careers it offers.
Megan Roberts, Social Value Manager for Esh Group, facilitated the visit and shared insights into her role and the many other roles available in the construction industry. The Ambassadors also met with Tom, an apprentice, and Geoff, the Site Manager, who shared their personal stories and provided a deeper understanding of their role.

During the introductions, the students were given a fun task of guessing the site machines and equipment found on a construction site. A safety briefing was carried out with a talk about why PPE (personal protective equipment) is used and the importance of it before receiving some to go out on site.
The Ambassadors learned about the ongoing work, the reasons behind the construction work, and the overall goals of the project.
The trip was a success and the students go the opportunity to understand more about construction, the jobs involved and how to get into the industry. Thanks to Megan and her team for their support.
