BETTER LEARNERS BETTER WORKERS VISIT CASTINGS TECHNOLOGY INTERNATIONAL – 28.01.25

On Tuesday 28th January,  Better Learners Better Workers (BLBW) Ambassadors from Sheffield Park Academy visited Castings Technology International, kindly hosted by Richard Cook (Managing Director) and Kevin Parkin (Chairman) – both are also Freemen of the Company of Cutlers.
The visit started in the Castings boardroom, where students met Richard Cook, who shared insights into what the company manufacture and how they work. He also emphasised the importance of health and safety, particularly why personal protective equipment (PPE) is so important.
After the students received their PPE, they were ready to go out onto the factory floor where they had a guided tour of all the machines and products in the factory. This included parts for the F35B fighter jet, nuclear submarines and general aerospace space industry.
During the tour, they visited different areas of the factory to see the job roles there are in the company, the skills and qualifications needed for each role. Some of the areas they had the opportunity to see were; the finishing department, painting area, design team, CNC machining area, non-destructive testing area and Europe’s largest titanium furnace.
The day ended with a question and answer session where the students got to ask any questions they wanted about the company and jobs within it.
Thank you to Richard, Kevin and the rest of the Castings Technology International team for such an amazing visit.
