On Wednesday 15th November 2023, Better Learners Better Workers (BLBW) Ambassadors from Sir Thomas Wharton Academy visited a project carried out by Bowmer and Kirkland Construction on the site of former Hatfield colliery.

This project is part of the Eclipse site regeneration of the area bordering Junction 5 of the M18. The Eclipse site is a new logistics hub with warehousing covering 38,000 sq ft (approximately 4 football pitches).

The students received a presentation from the site team giving an overview of how the work had progressed so far. This was followed by a tour of the site and a Q&A session on trades and employment opportunities.

Thank you to everyone involved in the day.

Also, on Wednesday Darren Jones BA (Hons) CMgr MCMI GCGI EngTech, from AESSEAL (UK) visited Maltby Academy, part of the Maltby Learning Trust, to see the Better Learners Better Workers (BLBW) Ambassadors.

Darren explained what the company do and his job role within AESSEAL. The students split into groups, with each group completing a different task. The students also had the opportunity to discuss the company values and why they were important in the workplace. As well as what the values meant to them individually.

Darren spoke about interviewing apprentices as part of his role in the company and all students took part in answering questions about themselves. It was great to see the students collaborating and developing their skills.

Many thanks to Darren for giving these amazing experiences to our students.
