On Monday, the Better Learners Better Workers Ambassadors from Fir Vale School had the opportunity to visit Footprint Tools in Sheffield, to meet with the Managing Director Richard Jewitt, who is also a Member of The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire.

The students were fascinated to learn about the history of the family-owned business, Footprint Tools. Richard shared stories of his family’s long-standing connection to the Cutlers Company, a tradition that has helped shape the city’s reputation as a hub of high-quality craftsmanship.
During the visit, the students explored the range of tools manufactured by the company and discovered the various industries these tools are used in. A guided tour of the factory allowed them to witness the manufacturing process up close, including the operation of machinery and processes involved.
It was great to see all the students engaged and asking questions – many commented on how they didn’t know that Sheffield still made products in the traditional way. A huge thank you to Richard Jewitt for hosting such an informative and engaging morning!
