The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire was delighted to welcome members of RAF Leeming to Sheffield last week for a day celebrating the region’s rich heritage and world-leading manufacturing capabilities.
The visit began with a guided tour of Cutlers’ Hall, where guests explored the history of the Company and its historic home in Cutlers’ Hall. Built in 1832 on the site of the Company’s first hall established in 1638, Cutlers’ Hall remains one of Sheffield’s most iconic buildings and a symbol of the city’s manufacturing legacy.
The programme then turned its focus to the present day, highlighting the Company’s role as the Voice of Manufacturing in Sheffield and South Yorkshire. Guests later visited Sheffield Forgemasters to gain an insight into the company’s advanced engineering capabilities and the significant contribution it continues to make to UK defence and national security.
The visit provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen the longstanding relationship between The Company of Cutlers and RAF Leeming, showcasing the shared values of innovation, excellence and service that underpin both organisations.
The Company of Cutlers extends its thanks to everyone from RAF Leeming for visiting and looks forward to continuing to build connections between manufacturing and defence in the years ahead.
